N an , 668 kms. from Bangkok , is located in the eastern section of Northern Thailand with 227-kilometre - long border connected to Laos PDR.   It is one of the oldest cities in the North established in the same period of Sukhothai.   In a small town of Nan , Old temple in Lanna style of architecture can be found almost everywhere.  As 80% of the province is a mountainous and forest area, Nan is a land of natural beauty and a home to several ethnic groups of hilltribes including Hmong, Lawa, Mian, Khmu, Thin and Mrabi.

Note

On this journey, we will hike to explore the beautiful national park of Doi Pu Ka and visit isolated Lawa ethnic villagers who have had little contact with the outside world.   We continue to visit the picturesque valley of Bo Kluea where the mountain - underground - salt has been produced to supply the whole Thai Lanna Kingdom and Laos Luang Prabang Kingdom for hundred years.  Then we go to Nam Wa River for a thrilling rafting and elephant riding adventure.  The Nam Wa offers a striking combination of challenging whitewater of grade 3+ and beautiful scenery of Mae Charim tropical forest.   Before departure, we have an exploration trip to see the fascinating Lanna life style and architectures in a peaceful town of Nan .
