Mae Hong Son, originally the isolated, mist-covered province, has become a wonderful place for those who love wandering off the beaten track and outdoor activities. Bamboo rafting along the river in the mist of green scenery is a once in a lifetime experience. There are many tribal ethnic groups living in Mae Hong Son such as Karen, Hmong, Lahu, Lisu, Lawa, etc. They share animist beliefs and honor numerous forest and guardian spirits. Each tribe has distinctive ceremonial attire, courtship rituals, games, dances, agricultural customs, dialects, aesthetic values and hygienic habits. Day 1 Chiang Mai - Mae Malai - Pai (L) Am Pick up from a hotel in Chiang Mai, travel by an aircond. Van to Mae Malai, the lively market to buy some food for lunch. Then visit to some interesting places such as Thai noodle making village, paper making village (recycle elephant waste). After that traveling to Pai (about 2.30 - 3 hrs.drive) On arrival in Pai, check-in at Baan Krating for overnight Am Travel to the Bamboo Rafting Camp, enjoy rafting for about 1 hrs. After finishing the rafting trip, travel by van to Pang Mapha with short visit to some hilltribe villages such as Lisu, Lahu, then caving at
Overnight at Fern Rimtarn Resort, the nice natural resort in Mae Hong Son. Day 3 Mae Hong Son - Elephant Riding - Long Neck & Long Ear Karen - Chiang Mai (B,L) Am After breakfast at the hotel, travel by van to the elephant camp. Enjoy riding on elephants for about 1 hrs. After that travel visit the Long-Neck & Long Ear Karen. Then visit some interesting temples, such as Wat Jong Kham & Wat Jong Klang before returning by van to Chiang Mai. End of service.
